Banking System: All bank customers can now register their complaints on this portal for free, keep these things in mind

RBI Ombudsman Scheme: You can complain about any harassment from the bank under the Ombudsman Scheme of the Reserve Bank.

RBI Ombudsman Scheme: We take a loan from the bank to meet our financial needs in an emergency. Many times later we realize that here we will have to pay more interest on the loan as compared to other banks or there are many other hidden charges in it or the bank has suddenly increased the interest. In this situation, the customer has to face many problems. In such a situation, a complaint can be made under the Ombudsman Scheme or Ombudsman Scheme of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Usually, information about any problem related to the bank can be given in the complaint redressal system. However, if the problem is not resolved within 30 days of filing the complaint, then you can contact RBI. Along with this, even if the bank has responded and it is not as per your wish or satisfactory, then also you can contact RBI. For this, you can register your complaint by visiting RBI’s CMS portal http://cms.rbi.org.in.

What is the Ombudsman Scheme?

RBI has directed banks to create a system to resolve the problems of their customers, which is known as Grievance Redressal Mechanism. Along with this, the Reserve Bank has also launched an Ombudsman Scheme, 2021 (RB-IOS), through which customers can register any kind of complaint related to the bank or NBFC here. It is absolutely free of cost. In the financial year 2023, the complaint made to RB-IOS increased by 68.2 percent to 703,000. Similarly, in 2022 and 2021, the number of complaints saw an increase of 9.4 and 15.7 percent respectively.

The thing to keep in mind is that if you have any complaint with the bank, then first contact the Grievance Redressal Mechanism for this. It can also be done online or offline by visiting the branch. On lodging a complaint, you get an acknowledgement or reference number. This has to be kept safely. Also keep in mind that lodging a complaint directly with the RBI Ombudsman without contacting the bank may result in your complaint being rejected.
