BH Series Number Plate: Who is given BH number plate in the vehicle and what are its benefits, know here

BH series number plate: In India, when you move to a new state or city, you often have to re-register your vehicle at the new place and this process is definitely a bit troublesome. However, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) had come up with a solution some time back to make this process easier. Bharat Series Number Plates, also known as BH Number Plates. It was launched in the year 2021. Its purpose is to make vehicle registration easier for those individuals who often relocate for work. In such a situation, here we will know about the benefits, eligibility criteria and other details of BH number plates.

BH number plate comes with a unique registration number. It is given to an individual vehicle across India. With this, vehicle owners can go from one state to another with the same registration number. Apart from this, having a BH number plate is also convenient in terms of insurance. Because, the insurance of the car remains unaffected by this. Talking about its format, it has year of registration (YY), then BH (Bharat series), then 4 digit registration number and then XX. This indicates the vehicle category. For example, you can see 22BH 9999AA.

As far as the state registration number is concerned, if you change your place, then you have to change the vehicle registration within 12 months after moving to the new state. If you do not do this, then you may violate the road rules. This may result in the rejection of your car insurance claim. The insurance company can reject the car insurance claim due to non-compliance of road rules. However, you do not have this problem with BH number. Because, you do not have to change the vehicle registration when you move from one place to another. In such a situation, you do not have to worry about car insurance coverage or claim validity.

Who is eligible for BH series number plate and what is the criteria?

  • State and central government employees.
  • Defence personnel.
  • Bank employees.
  • Administrative service employees.
  • Employees working in private companies with offices in more than five states or union territories.
  • The vehicle must also have a Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate.
  • Road tax must be paid for the vehicle.
  • This is applicable only for non-transport vehicles.
  • Benefits of Bharat Series Number Plate:
  • This number plate is valid all over the country.
  • There is no need to re-register the vehicle when moving from one state to another.

How to register for BH series number plate:

  • For this, you can login to MoRTH’s Vahan portal yourself. Or you can take the help of an authorized automobile dealer.
  • If you take the help of an automobile dealer, then fill Form 20 in the Vahan portal.
  • Eligible private sector employees have to fill Form 60. They also have to show employment ID along with the work certificate.
  • After this, the authorities verify the eligibility of the vehicle owner.
  • Then the necessary documents have to be submitted.
  • After this, after getting approval from the RTO for the BH number, the necessary motor vehicle tax has to be paid.
  • Then the VAHAN portal generates BH Series registration for your vehicle.
