It has been almost 4 years since GST (Goods and Services Tax) was implemented, but the opposition has not stopped yet. In the meeting of the CAIT (Confederation of All India Traders) issued in Nagpur, it has been decided that India will be shut down in protest against GST on 26 February.
Nagpur: The meeting of CAIT (Confederation of All India Traders) has started in Nagpur from 8 February. Bharat Bandh has been announced in protest against GST (Goods and Services Tax) on the first day of this 3-day meeting. In this Bharat Bandh called on 26 February, more than 8 crore businessmen are being claimed.
CAIT has announced
The national president of CAIT (Confederation of All India Traders) BC Bhartia and the national general secretary Praveen Khandelwal have openly opposed the GST. CAIT alleges that GST is completely a tax system. Businessmen are getting devastated due to GST and the government should understand the pain of businessmen. CAIT is also demanding that the GST should provide relief to the businessmen immediately and despite repeated calls, the GST Council has not paid any attention to the issues raised by the CAIT. CAIT says that many changes are also causing confusion on GST due to frequent changes and the business class remains entangled in GST rather than focusing on most business.
Amended 937 times
The GST infrastructure has changed after the GST has been amended more than 937 times in 4 years. GST was implemented with the aim of improving and simplifying the tax system, but today it has become so complicated that it has to be changed in the coming days. Because of this, GST rates are changing frequently and the problem of businessmen is increasing.
What does the government say
The government has repeatedly said that GST traders have been brought in to provide relief from the tax system. This formula of One Nation One Tax is giving relief to the people from inflation and businessmen are also getting a lot of convenience. With time, there is an agreement to change the tax slab in the meeting of the GST Council. It becomes clear that GST is giving a lot of relief to the people.
Current status of GST
There have been 37 meetings of GST Council so far, after which there are now a total of five slabs in GST. GST is levied on goods from tax free to 5, 12, 18 and 28 per cent. According to the figures released by the government before the budget, the GST collection had reached 1.20 lakh crore in January 2021, which is the highest collection till date.
