Twitter has suspended 500 accounts, taking big action following the government’s warning. All these accounts were fake tweets from the farmers movement.
Twitter announced on Wednesday that it has suspended 500 accounts by taking action. The Government of India had given an order to completely ban 1400 accounts from Twitter, after which Twitter has now taken action on it. The government had said that all these accounts were tweeting against the farmers movement and all three agricultural laws, while many accounts had connections to Pakistan as well.
Defending its policy, Twitter said that transparency is our foundation to promote healthy public convergence. The micro-blogging site said that for the past few weeks, we are constantly in India to defend our rules. According to the report, Twitter has now assured the Indian government that the company will pay attention to the objections of the government. Along with this, the notice sent by the government under section 69A of the IT Act will also look into the questions raised on the content. Twitter has said in its statement that, we have been getting orders from the government for the last 10 days in which it was said that if Twitter does not delete these accounts, then the government can take action under 69A (3) is.
Twitter further said that after this government order, in some cases we are closing the accounts forever. The IT Ministry had said that these 500 Twitter accounts are violating the rules. The company further said that it is also paying attention to hashtags which are promoting dangerous content.

Recently, Twitter India Public Policy Head had resigned
Mahima Kaul, the public policy head of Twitter India, recently resigned. Mahima resigned citing personal reasons.
