The Delhi government is going to give a subsidy of up to Rs 36,000 to women on purchasing electric two-wheelers under its proposed Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2.0. The first 10,000 women who have a driving license will get this benefit.
Delhi’s Rekha Gupta government has planned to give a big gift to those who buy electric bikes. According to information received from sources, under EV Policy 2.0, if anyone buys an electric two-wheeler in the name of a woman, then he will be given a subsidy of up to Rs 36,000. That is, if you buy an electric bike in the name of your sister, mother or wife, then you will also be able to take advantage of such a big discount. However, initially the first 10000 women will get its benefit.
The government is preparing this new policy to promote e-vehicles in Delhi. According to sources, the first 10,000 women will get the benefit of subsidy up to Rs 36,000 on purchasing electric two-wheelers, provided they have a valid driving license. This scheme will be implemented on first come, first served basis. That is, whoever comes first will be given its benefit first. According to the initial information, this subsidy will be given at the rate of Rs 12,000 per kilowatt-hour based on the battery capacity (kilowatt-hour), which will be limited to a maximum of Rs 36,000.
Focus on women
Ever since the BJP government has been formed in Delhi, its focus has been on women. Whether it is about free cylinders or giving Rs 25,000 to pregnant women, giving houses or giving Rs 2500 per month to every woman, BJP is betting on women. Now this new scheme can prove to be a panacea for the BJP.
When will it be implemented
The government wants women to also use electric vehicles and contribute to a pollution-free Delhi. This subsidy will be an incentive for them. It is proposed to keep this scheme in force till March 31, 2030, which will cover electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and commercial vehicles. This will be applicable only to those vehicles whose price is around Rs 4.5 lakh. However, it is important to note that women taking benefit under this scheme will be ineligible for other subsidy schemes.
