The Ministry of Transport has launched the National Register on 31 March 2021 for the purpose of curbing duplicate driving licenses. Any change in the driving license on the National Register will be done online, which will prevent duplication. Apart from this, a separate list of “dangerous drivers” will be prepared here. The names of such drivers will be made public.

Every year, about 1.5 lakh people die in a road accident in our country. Thousands of such cases arise in which an accident occurs due to driver’s fault. At present, the complete information about the state driving license is available on the SARATHI portal of the National Informatics Center. Now after the launch of the National Register, the old data of DL available on Sarathi will be migrated to it in the next few months. Apart from this, the Transport Ministry has decided to make known the list of drivers whose license has been canceled or they have made a big mistake.




National Register launched

According to the report of Business Line, the Ministry of Transport has prepared the National Register by putting together the complete information of driving license and registration certificate of different states. With the help of this, any user can get information about his work at any time. After the launch of this portal, now the work of Learner License and DL Renew can be done online. Learners will now be able to do the job of printing driving license from submitting applications online. Apart from this, it can be renewed from one year before the license expires to one year after expiry.
