More than two lakh workers will get benefit
A total of 2,10,684 construction workers will be provided by the government. 52.88 crore rupees have been given in the bank accounts of 1,05,750 workers so far from the government, the remaining amount will be sent to all others in the coming days.
Food was also arranged for the workers
The Delhi government has also started food distribution centers at many schools and construction sites in all districts of Delhi to cater to the needs of migrant, daily wage and other workers engaged in construction work. Till Thursday evening, about 7000 food packets have been distributed in these food distribution centers.
Helpline will be made for workers
The Delhi government is going to create a helpline for construction workers in the next 2-3 days, where any construction workers who are registered with the board or not, can be contacted about food distribution centers, availability of beds, medicines and any other problem. Adequate information will be given in Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also appealed to the workers and migrants not to leave Delhi as the Delhi government is ensuring all kinds of assistance for them.
Government registers by driving
It is worth mentioning that last year, the number of registered construction workers in Delhi was around 55 thousand, they were provided assistance of Rs 5-5 thousand by the Delhi government during the lockdown last year. After running the mega registration drive by this government, a large number of workers were registered. There are currently 1 lakh 72 thousand registered construction workers in Delhi.
