Detailing about the circular issued by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dr. Jitendra Singh said that some such cases have come to the notice of the Department in which pension is given to the families of the deceased after the death of the pensioner. Pension to the pensioner’s family will start only after submitting the death certificate

In cases where the spouse does not have a joint account with the deceased pensioner, the commencement of family pension through a simple application in Form-14 signed by two witnesses should be treated as valid.
