A dangerous WhatsApp message can install ‘Worm’ (virus) in your phone. It is so dangerous that even friends messaging you can become a victim of it. Once this malware comes in your phone, then you will be sent automatically as a reply to people messaging on WhatsApp. A famous security researcher has revealed this through a video.
Researcher Lukas Stefanko of tech security firm ESET wrote in his Twitter post, ‘This malware is spread through your WhatsApp. Notifications on WhatsApp are automatically replying. A link to the malicious Huawei Mobile App is sent in the reply. A contact is linked once in an hour. It can be adware or subscription scam. ‘
How it works
According to the report, this malware is a type of ‘Android worm’. It uploads adware to your phone and spreads through automatic messages on WhatsApp. That is, if you have found this malware link and you click on it, then it is first downloaded in your phone. Then whoever will message you on WhatsApp, the same link will run itself. In this way it will continue to spread.
Android WhatsApp Worm?
Malware spreads via victim’s WhatsApp by automatically replying to any received WhatsApp message notification with a link to malicious Huawei Mobile app.
Message is sent only once per hour to the same contact.
It looks to be adware or subscription scam. https://t.co/NYbh2A9Y6M pic.twitter.com/2tFgLyG94O— Lukas Stefanko (@LukasStefanko) January 21, 2021
That’s why people click
the link that actually goes to WhatsApp has been named Huawei app. Not only this, users are also lured to win mobile phones in exchange for downloading the app. Clicking on the link takes you to a fake Google Play page. If users click on Install then the malware gets downloaded in the phone.
What benefit will hackers get?
Actually it is a fake app. Through this, hackers will show advertisements on your device and it will earn money. Common users will not be able to understand why they are seeing these advertisements.
