The Income Tax Department, while giving complete information for filing Income Tax Return (ITR Filing), has said that the offline facility is only for ITR-1 and ITR-4 (ITR Form-1 & 4). Apart from these, all ITRs will be connected to offline facility later.
new Delhi. The Income Tax Department has also started offline Filing Facility to fill the Income Tax Return Form-1 and 4 (ITR Form-1 & 4) of taxpayers for the financial year 2020-21. The offline facility is available on the e-filing portal. This new technology is based on Java Script Object Notation (JSON). It is a simple format for storing data. The offline feature can be downloaded to computers with Windows-7 or later.
Both these forms will provide facility to those filing ITR
The Income Tax Department has given full information for filing and said that the offline facility is only for ITR-1 and ITR-4. Apart from these, all ITRs will be added later. ITR Form-1 (Sahaj) and ITR Form-4 (Sugam) are simple formats, used by a large number of low-income taxpayers. Sahaj forms can be filled by taxpayers whose annual income is up to 50 lakh rupees. Also, their income is derived from salary, property with one house / other sources (interest).
ITR-4 can fill individual taxpayers, Hindu undivided families and companies whose total income is up to Rs 50 lakh. Also, whose source of income is business or profession. Neha Malhotra, director of Nangia Andersen India, said that the new facility is simple in terms of filing returns. This will make taxpayers much easier. He told that help has been given through this Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). Also, guidance notes, circulars and provisions of law have also been mentioned so that taxpayers can file returns without any problem. Compliance levels will increase as ease of return increases and problems end.
