According to the Public Distribution System (PDS) it can be used to purchase ‘fair price’ or essential commodities from ration shops. Eligibility
Any person who is a citizen of India can apply for a ration card. Ration cards are issued on the basis of the total number of members in a family.
What are the different types of ration cards
- Below Poverty Line (BPL) Ration Card
- Non bpl
BPL ration cards are blue / yellow / green / red cards with subsidy on food, fuel and other goods. White ration cards are for those who are above the poverty line.

How to apply for ration card?
There are different websites and links to apply for a ration card, depending on the person who lives in the state.
Go to the website of the state where you reside and apply for a ration card.
Login to the portal on which you have to apply.
Click on the application form
Fill in all your personal details.
After filling the details, now upload all the documents and click on the “Apply Online” button.
