LPG Gas Cylinder: The central government is going to change the rules for giving LPG connections. Under this, now a new LPG connection will be available only with the help of valid documents like PAN card, Aadhar card or Voter ID card.
Medi government can make a big announcement very soon about LPG gas connection. Now you will get a new LPG connection only with the help of an ID proof. Like the existing rules, there will no longer be any need to provide address proof for new connections. This decision of Modi government is going to provide relief to large number of migrating people, students and professionals studying in other cities. Currently LPG connection is not available without address proof. CNBC-Awaaz has given this information by quoting sources in one of its reports.
The report said that the Petroleum Ministry has prepared a bill for this change in the rules related to LPG connection. It has been given to the oil companies. Apart from the relaxation of the rules for taking new LPG connections, customers can get another relief. In the same report, quoting sources, it is also being said that the three state-run oil companies are jointly preparing an integrated IT platform.
Address proof will not be required
With this, if a customer has a gas cylinder from one company, then he will also be able to take a second or third company cylinder. The new rules for giving LPG connections are expected to provide major relief to migrant laborers, students and professionals. Now they will get a new gas connection only on a valid ID proof. If a person has an Aadhaar card, PAN card or Voter ID card, then they will easily get a new LPG connection. For this, they will not have to give undertaking related to permanent address.
What will be the benefit from the new rule?
Two major reasons are being cited behind this decision of the Petroleum Ministry. It is believed that getting a gas connection only on an ID proof will directly benefit most people migrating to cities. At the same time, the government will also help in meeting the target of 100 percent LPG coverage. Explain that this year, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in the budget that under Ujjwala scheme, 1 crore new customers will be given LPG connection.
Free LPG connection reached 8 crore families in 4 years
It was only in February 2021 that Oil Secretary Tarun Kapoor indicated that the target of 100% will be met by promoting clean energy in the country. Kapoor had told that in the last 4 years, a record 8 crore homes have reached free LPG connections so that poor families can be helped. With this, the total number of LPG users in the country has crossed 29 crores.
