There is something inside the Indian cricket team that is not going well. Today, Virat Kohli wrote in a post through social media that he is leaving the captaincy of the limited overs format.
In a statement on Twitter, Kohli explained his decision to step down from the T20I captaincy. He said that he needs to give himself space to play in all three formats for the country. Kohli said that I have been fortunate to not only represent India, but also lead the Indian cricket team to the best of my ability. I thank all those who have supported me in my journey as the captain of the Indian cricket team.

He also wrote in his post, “I couldn’t have done it without them – the boys, the support staff, the selection committee, my coach and every Indian who prayed for us to win. Understanding the workload is a very important thing and considering my immense potential, having played all 3 formats in the last 8-9 years and captaining regularly for the last 5-6 years, I feel that I should be able to play in Test and ODI cricket. One needs to give himself space to be fully prepared to lead the Indian team.”
Kohli further wrote that I have given everything to the team during my tenure as T20 captain and as a batsman going forward, I will continue to do so for the T20 team. Kohli said that he is taking this decision only after discussions with head coach Ravi Shastri and Rohit.
