New Delhi. Now an exercise is going on to include dental treatment again in the country’s largest health scheme Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (Ayushman Bharat-PM-JAY). In this regard, the National Health Authority of the Government of India has sought suggestions from the Dental Council of India (DCI) to include various dental treatment packages.
The National Health Authority of the Government of India has written a letter to the Dental Council of India, seeking suggestions from the DCI for which treatments to include. In the letter sent by the NHA, it has been said that efforts are being made to add some new packages of dental treatment under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. NHA is making continuous efforts for this. Therefore, DCI should send its suggestions to add Dental Human Resource and some more new dental treatments to this scheme.
At the same time, Dr. Anil Kumar Chandna, executive member of DCI, told News18 Hindi that there has been a lot of tussle over the dental treatment under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY scheme. After the start of the scheme, dental treatment was included in it, but then suddenly the government excluded the treatment of teeth from this scheme.
After this, only some surgical dental treatments were kept part of this scheme. Since then, the Dental Council of India has been continuously demanding the inclusion of dental treatment in the Ministry of Health, while the common people are also upset about not being able to get treatment under this scheme. Dr. Chandna says that now a letter has been sent from NHA to DCI. Soon there will be a meeting of DCI and NHA in which suggestions will be given regarding the dental package.
DCI will suggest these dental treatments
Dr. Chandna says that all day care facilities of DCI Dental i.e. all routine dental treatment will be suggested to be included in Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. It will be sought to include treatment of all oral diseases ranging from dental implantation, tooth extraction to tooth fracture, dental repair, oral cancer, bacterial endocarditis, pyorrhea, pregnancy gingivitis, gum diseases and other oral diseases.
