Experts say that the main reason behind the increase in black fungus cases is the moisture in the mask.
Fungus in the eye from mask dirt
The dirt in the mask behind the black fungus is a big reason, due to which cases are increasing. According to the news published in Hindustan, senior ophthalmologist Dr SS Lal has said that long-term masks can also be used for the cause of mucor mycosis. There is a possibility of fungal infection in the eyes due to dirt particles depositing on the mask. Also, this type of infection can happen even if there is moisture in the mask.
Oxygen-steroid is also responsible
Dr. Lal says that due to prolonged delivery of oxygen to the Covid-19 patient during treatment, it can also cause fungal infection. Since the high dose of steroids is given to the Covid patient, it increases the chances of getting such infection by increasing his sugar level.
Redness of the eyes, discharge are the initial symptoms.
The initial symptoms of reaching the eye of this disease are red eyes, watery eyes and conjunctivitis. Later, the eyes ache and the lights go out. By the way, the infection starts in the nose from this fungus. Due to this, mucus of brown or red color comes out from the nose. Then it reaches in the eyes and after this, the patient dies after reaching its brain, nervous system.
More chances of rain infection
Since this fungus is found in the environment, there is a high possibility of black fungus spreading during the rainy season. Therefore, it is important that people who get rid of Covid-19 wear masks every day after washing them in Dettol and drying them in the sun or press them. Also do not wash the mask with other clothes.
