Board Exam Twice A Year: From the next session, the board exams of class 10th and 12th will be conducted twice a year. Semester system can also be implemented in class 11th and 12th. Bi-annual Board Exam and Semester System in 11th-12th Class: Some major changes are going to happen in school education from next year. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan himself has given this information. He said that the decision to conduct board exams twice a year will be implemented from the next academic session i.e. 2026-27. Preparations are being made for this. Under the National Education Policy, this big step is being taken towards reducing the stress of exams from children.
Not only this, on the basis of the recommendation of the National Education Policy, preparations are underway to introduce the semester system in class 11th and 12th. Speaking on the ET Roundtable, the Education Minister said that although the discussion on the semester system in class 11, 12 is still going on, the decision of board exams twice a year and the semester system in Higher Secondary / Intermediate should not be seen separately. Both of these are an important part of a major reform in the education system.
Update on NEET 2025
During this, Dharmendra Pradhan also talked about the NEET exam. In view of what happened in 2024, there is a preparation to change NEET UG 2025. Pradhan said that the format of NEET 2024 will be new. A final decision will be taken soon in collaboration with the Ministry of Health on this new format. But he has also stressed that the change will not be such that it will shock the students.
The education minister said that there is a need to adopt a UPSC-like exam model in these exams. There is a need to work as a team with the help of state governments and even the district-level administration.
CBSE board exams from February 15
Currently, the 2025 CBSE 10th, 12th board exams are starting from February 15. These will be completed by April 4. This year, like before, only one board exam is being conducted.
