Board Exams 2025: Class 10th board exam will be held twice from next year, this state has announced

MBOSE Class 10th Exam 2025: Meghalaya Education Minister announced that the State Board of School Education will conduct two Secondary School Certificate examinations from 2025. One exam will be held in February-March and the other in May. This decision will give a second chance to those students who could not clear the exam in the first attempt.

Meghalaya Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma has made a big announcement. He said that the State School Education Board will conduct two examinations for class 10 from next year. Why will there be two exams? Responding to this, Sangma said that this is to give a second chance to those students who are unable to pass the board exam in the first attempt.

This new rule will come into effect from 2025. The first exam will be held in February or early March. The second exam will be held in May, which will be for those students who fail in some or all subjects in the first exam. The Education Minister said that this change is being made under the National Education Policy (NEP). This will save students from wasting time.

The Secretary of MBOSE said that the cabinet has taken another important decision. It has been decided to abolish the system of optional question papers or ‘best of five question papers’ from the 2026-2027 academic year. This means that from 2026-2027 it will be mandatory for all students to pass all six subjects in the board exam.

The Meghalaya Education Minister said that the state cabinet had approved this proposal earlier this month. The proposal relates to amendment in the MBOSE Regulation for Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination 2011.

Sangma said, ‘From the beginning of the year 2025, MBOSE will conduct two SSLC board examinations every year. The first exam will be held in February or early March, and the second exam will allow re-examination to those students who fail in all or some subjects within one to two months which will be held in May.’

The cabinet also approved the Meghalaya Public School Service Rules, Meghalaya Subordinate Water Resources Engineering Service Rules, 2024 and Farmers Empowerment Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
