Supreme Court has ordered the state governments to run community kitchens for migrant laborers
The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered that all state governments should implement the one nation, one ration card scheme by July 31.
Through this scheme, the migrant laborers are provided the facility to take ration in any part of the country. The Supreme Court has also given many other orders for the benefit and welfare of migrant laborers.
Here are some instructions
The Supreme Court has directed the Central Government to create a portal in consultation with NIC for registration of unorganized and migrant laborers and start the process before July 31, 2021.
2 – The state government should start the scheme of giving ration to the migrant laborers by July 31 and such schemes will have to be continued till the pandemic.
3 – The states which have not yet started One Nation One Ration Scheme should start it before 31st July.
4- Instructions have been given to the state governments to register all the organizations and contractors related to migrant laborers under the Inter State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service Act) 1979.
Instructions have been given to the state governments to start community kitchens wherever there is a large number of migrant laborers. This kitchen will remain operational as long as this pandemic lasts.
Justices Ashok Bhushan and MR Shah have taken suo motu cognizance of this matter and ordered for their welfare and problems of migrant laborers. On March 24, the bench had ordered that states and union territories should provide ration. Along with this, it has also been said that community kitchen should be run for those migrant laborers who are stranded due to corona virus epidemic and lockdown.
