The central government can double the insurance cover under Ayushman Bharat Swasthya Yojana (PM-JAY). Currently, under this scheme, an insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh is given, which can be increased to Rs 10 lakh in the upcoming Budget 2024. PTI reported that it is planning to cover cancer and other serious diseases, so that people can be provided more financial help.
According to a PTI report, the ministry will also increase the sum insured under the Ayushman Bharat Swasthya Yojana (PM-JAY) to Rs 5 lakh per family per year from 2023-24 to cover treatments like cancer and tree transplantation that cost more than Rs 5 lakh. Working on increasing it to Rs 10 lakh. An increase in this regard is expected in the interim Union Budget on 1 February.

The Health Ministry is also planning to double the beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) to Rs 100 crore and extend benefits to Kisan Samman Nidhi beneficiaries, construction workers, non-coal mine workers and Asha workers. Is planning.

Till December 20, 2023, approximately 28.45 crore Ayushman cards have been issued under this scheme. Of the total, 9.38 crore Ayushman cards were issued in 2023 alone.
