Modi government is going to buy more than 20,000 buses in the next financial year. The government has plans to run buses in 111 cities of the country.
There is a lot of focus on public transport in this budget. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made an arrangement of Rs 18,000 crore for Public Transport System in Budget 2021, which will run public buses in many cities of the country. When these buses start running, then ordinary people will get benefit of them.
Buses will run in 111 cities
According to the information, the Modi government is going to buy more than 20,000 buses in the next financial year. The government has plans to run buses in 111 cities of the country. These buses will also run Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The central government will give money to buy the bus as well as to run the bus.
Talking to Zee News, Urban Development Ministry Secretary Durgashankar Mishra has said that under this scheme, state governments will send proposals to the central government to buy buses and then after the approval of the center, the buses will be purchased as per the requirement.
Rs 18,000 crore scheme for public transport
Explain that the government had announced a plan of Rs 18,000 crore in the budget to strengthen public transport in cities. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitamaran said that by December 2023, there will be 100 percent electrification of broad gauge rail tracks.
He said that a record Rs 1,10,055 crore will be provided for the Railways, out of which Rs 1,07,100 crore will be earmarked for capital expenditure in 2021-22.
The government has allocated Rs 23,500 crore for projects related to Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) and Metro services in the country.
This time, Rs 4,472 crore has been allocated to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation, which is undertaking the country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System project, against Rs 2,487 crore in 2020-21.
