Giving information, the central government had said that the government will provide more than one crore free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana under the Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana (Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana). The government aims to provide free LPG connections to all poor families. The government is now providing LPG connections without any proof of residency. Apart from this, people will also get the option to get a refill cylinder from three dealers in their neighborhood.
Let me tell you, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana on 1 May 2016. Under the scheme, the government provides domestic LPG connection ie LPG connection to the families living below the poverty line. In four years, a record 8 crore free LPG connections were provided in the homes of poor women.
Under this scheme, BPL families get Rs 1600 for an LPG connection. The price of Rs 1600 per connection includes cylinders, pressure regulators, booklets, safety houses etc. The government borrows its expenses. But, LPG customers have to buy the stove themselves.
