Canceled Flight: Tata Group-owned Air India has been forced to cancel about 60 flights on India-US routes between November and December this year due to a shortage of aircraft due to maintenance problems. An airline source has given this information. Sources said that the flights that have been canceled during the peak travel time include services to San Francisco and Chicago.
Without disclosing the names of the destinations, Air India said in a statement that it has cancelled a ‘small’ number of flights between November and December due to delays in the return of some aircraft due to heavy maintenance and supply chain constraints. It also said that the affected passengers have been ‘informed’ and have been offered flights on other Air India Group services operating on the same or nearby days.
Sources told PTI, “Air India has cancelled 60 flights to San Francisco, Washington, Chicago, Newark and New York between November 15 and December 31 as it does not have sufficient number of wide-body aircraft to operate some flights to these destinations.”
