CBSE issued important notice for schools regarding NCERT books, read details here

Central Board of Secondary Education has issued a notice regarding NCERT textbooks. According to the notice issued, NCERT books have been made mandatory for classes 9th to 12th.

Central Board of Secondary Education i.e. CBSE has issued an important notice regarding NCERT textbooks. According to the notice issued, CBSE has introduced important amendments in its affiliation bye-laws. The revised guidelines have been issued by CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta, which have come into effect with immediate effect. The notice issued can be seen by visiting the official website.

Amending the guidelines on the use of textbooks by schools, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made the use of NCERT books mandatory for classes 9 to 12. According to the information received from the notice, schools have also been strictly advised to use NCERT or SCERT books for classes 1 to 8.

Amendments for Classes 1 to 8

The revised guidelines advise schools to follow NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) or SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training) textbooks for students from Classes 1 to 8. However, schools can supplement these with additional material provided they are aligned with the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage (NCF-FS) and National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE).

NCERT books mandatory for Classes 9 to 12

CBSE has made it mandatory for schools to use NCERT textbooks prescribed in the CBSE syllabus for students of Classes 9 to 12. In cases where NCERT or SCERT textbooks are not available for certain subjects, schools are instructed to use CBSE books available on the board’s official website, the notice said.

Also, the notice issued reads, “Schools can still include supplementary material and digital content to enhance the learning experience, but strictly following the alignment with NCF-SE.
