Gender discrimination with daughters continues in Indian society even today, the year Girl Child Day was started in the country to eradicate this discrimination and to give equal rights to daughters. The theme of Girl’s Day in the year 2021 is based on the sex ratio, the reason for this is that the number of girls in the country is steadily decreasing. In such a situation, the government has come up with many such schemes, which serve as the basis for the upbringing of the girls and in giving them a safe future, so let us know about some of the similar schemes: –
1. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY):The Central Government has launched Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana under Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign and it is one of the most talked about schemes for girls. Under this scheme, arrangements have been made for the education of girls and expenses up to their marriage. Account can be opened under Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana with a minimum amount of Rs 250 only. Under this scheme an account can be opened from a maximum of Rs 1,50,000. 50% of the amount to be deposited under this scheme can be withdrawn at the age of 18 years. The government also pays interest on the amount to be deposited. The entire amount can be withdrawn from the account at the time of 21 years of marriage or marriage. This scheme has been implemented to prevent feticide of girls, so that parents do not feel their responsibility. An account can be opened under this scheme at the time of birth of the girl child or till she is 10 years old.
2. CBSE Scholarship Scheme: One of the important scheme for daughters is the CBSE Scholarship Scheme. The scheme is administered by the CBSE board. Educating the girl child is the key to this scheme. Under this scheme, a scholarship of Rs 500 per month is given to girls, so that the burden of education on parents is reduced. This scheme is for single girlchild, that is, the parents whose only child is a daughter, they get the benefit. This scheme is for 11th and 12th education, the daughter who passes the matriculation examination with 60 percent marks gets the benefit of this scheme for further studies. For this, a form has to be verified from the school and sent to CBSE, after which the benefit of this scheme is given. This form is available on the CBSE website.
3. Balika Samridhi Yojana: This scheme is also operated by the Central Government. This scheme benefits families living below the poverty line. Two daughters of a family can get the benefit of this scheme. Under this, the government will give Rs 500 as a gift on the birth of a daughter, as well as a scholarship will be given for the education of that girl from class one to 10th. To avail this scheme, one has to fill the form available in the government hospital or Anganwadi center. For this, some documents of parents, including the birth certificate of the girl child, have to be submitted and the benefits of this scheme are easily available.
