Alert to Central Government Employees. The Department of Personnel and Training of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has recently released a memorandum regarding Central Govt Holidays 2024.
Released the list of holidays granted to employees in central government offices in the national capital as well as other parts of the country. There are 14 regular holidays while 3 optional holidays can be selected. The details of general holidays and optional holidays have been released separately. Know the details of common holidays.

Department of Personnel and Training will fix three more holidays for offices located in New Delhi. Three optional holidays for employees working in offices outside New Delhi will be selected from the list given below in consultation with the Central Government Employees Welfare Coordinating Committee in the state capitals and, if necessary, coordinating committees in other places of the state.
One extra day for Dussehra, Holi, Sri Krishna Janmashtami (Vaishnavi), Sri Ram Navami, Maha Shivratri, Ganesh Chaturthi / Vinayaka Chavithi, Makara Sankranti, Ratha Yatra, Onam, Pongal, Sri Panchami / Basant Panchami, Vishu / Vaishakhi / Vaishakhadi / Bhag Bihu / Mashadi Ugadi / Chaitra Shukladi / Cheti Chand / Gudi Padava / First Navratri / Nowraj / Chaath Puja / Karva Chauth are optional holidays.
Out of these 12 optional holidays, 3 optional holidays have to be selected. The final list will be drawn up by the Central Government to be uniformly applicable to all Central Government offices in the concerned State. The Department of Personnel and Training has clarified that once the list of holidays is prepared, no change in festivals and dates will be allowed. Optional holidays are as follows.
Any festival holiday, unless declared at the outset, shall not be followed by a weekoff or non-working day or alternate holiday when more than one festival falls on the same day. Holidays related to Union Territories are as per the instructions issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Holidays related to bank employees are as per the instructions of the Department of Financial Services of the Union Ministry of Finance.
