The Union Labor and Employment Ministry on Friday announced an increase in variable dearness allowance for central employees. More than 1.5 crore employees will get 105 to 210 rupees per month.
The increase will come into effect from April 1, 2021 and due to this there will also be an increase in the minimum wages of central employees. The employees of the Central Government, Railways, Mining, Oil Fields, Ports and other Central Government establishments will get the benefit. This rate will also apply to contract and casual employees.
Central Chief Labor Commissioner (CLC) DPS Negi said, “The DA increase of employees under the central government has increased from Rs 105 to Rs 210 per month.” The Labor Ministry said in a statement that it has revised the new rate. Notified and has come into force with effect from 1 April 2021.
The ministry has said that it will be a big relief for the various categories of employees, while the country is struggling with the second wave of corona epidemic. The VDA is changed based on the average consumer price index. The average CPI-IW from July to December 2020 was used to change the VDA.
