Traffic Challan Rules: Now vehicle challan can be paid using QR code, order issued

A special campaign has been launched in the national capital against those who drive vehicles with faulty number plates to hide their identity. Many challans are being issued against such vehicles every day. What do the figures say?

A special campaign has been launched in the national capital against those who drive with faulty number plates to hide the identity of their vehicles. On an average, more than 110 such vehicles are being challaned daily by the traffic police. This year, the traffic police have challaned 386 percent more vehicles with faulty number plates as compared to the action taken in the year 2023. According to the traffic police, this year they launched a special campaign against vehicles which had faulty number plates.

This campaign was launched with the objective of ensuring road safety and following traffic rules. Action has been taken against vehicles using wrong numbers, erased numbers, and wrongly designed number plates. Such vehicles not only violate traffic rules but are also used in crime.

To curb this, special teams were also deployed in different areas of Delhi. The traffic police has challaned 16,859 such vehicles till May 30 in the year 2024, while action was taken against 4363 such vehicles during this period in the year 2023. The traffic police has identified 10 such places where vehicles with faulty number plates are being used more. The traffic police has also appealed to the people to use only the number plates of the standard set by the government.
