China and Australia will grant each other’s citizens multiple visa entries for up to five years for tourism and business, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Friday, in another sign of improving ties between the two countries. Previously, Chinese citizens could apply for a visa for up to one year or up to 10 years to visit Australia.
China and Australia will grant each other’s citizens multiple visa entries for up to five years for tourism and business, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Friday, another sign of improving relations between the two countries. The two prime ministers agreed to adhere to the positioning of the China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership, strengthen the momentum of improvement and development of China-Australia relations, and jointly safeguard regional and world peace, stability and prosperity.
China will unilaterally include Australia in the scope of visa-free countries, and the two sides agreed to issue each other multiple entry visas for three to five years for tourism, business and family visits. The visa arrangement follows Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s visit to Australia earlier this week.
Previously, Chinese citizens could apply for visas for up to one year to visit Australia, or continuous travellers could apply for up to 10 years. Since last year, China has been easing entry requirements for business and family visits for visitors from some countries.
