Before the upcoming elections, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has taken many major decisions in the general council meeting of MCU. CM Shivraj approved the proposal to give seventh pay scale to the teachers of the university and to increase their retirement age in the general council meeting of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal. Apart from this, several important decisions were taken including regularization of contractual teachers, increase in PhD seats.

National Media Museum will open in Bhopal

In fact, a meeting of the General Council of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication was held under the chairmanship of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan. It was informed that a National Media Museum would be established in Bhopal. Approved the proposal for establishment of Central Studio, Digital Media Lab, separate departments focused on cinema and Indian languages and Bharatmuni Research Chair in CM University.

Apart from this, in the General Council meeting held after January 2018, the budget estimates, accounts and audit reports of the previous years were approved. Decisions were also taken on various administrative matters. It was informed in the meeting that the provisions of the National Education Policy have been implemented in Asia’s first and country’s largest journalism and communication university. The University has been ranked among the top 10 educational institutions in the country by prestigious magazines like India Today, The Week.

Retirement age will be 62 years

The General Council gave post facto approval to implement the 7th pay scale for the teachers working in the university. Along with this, approval was also given to pay arrears to all teachers on the basis of 7th pay scale implemented from January 01, 2016. It was also agreed upon for regularization of teachers working on contract. The Maha Parishad also gave its approval for increasing the superannuation age from 60 to 62 years. Information about the new campuses of the university was also given in the meeting.

Establishment of Radio Karmaveer and seat increase in PHD course

In the meeting, approval was given to establish Radio Karmaveer for practical training of students and discharge of social responsibilities in the university’s new campus at Bishankhedi. Along with this, the proposal related to research book writing, increase in seats in Ph.D course was also approved. MoU with Population Fund, Mahatma Gandhi College of Communication Kozhikode Kerala, Media and Entertainment Skills Council New Delhi and other universities and reputed institutions. were done.
