NAMO Bharat Co-Working Spaces: The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is constantly taking new steps to provide better connectivity and facilities to the passengers. In this sequence, a plan has been made to open a state-of-the-art co-working space ‘Metrodesk’ at Ghaziabad Namo Bharat station. This will be the first co-working model of its kind, which is an important initiative towards transforming urban transit space into a business hub.

Located at the concourse level of Ghaziabad Namo Bharat station, this co-working space will have 42 open workstations, 11 private cabins and 2 meeting rooms, in which 42 individuals and 11 companies can work at a time. It will be equipped with high-speed internet, plug-and-play workstations and state-of-the-art technologies. Smart access will be ensured through biometric entry and digital key cards.

Located on the Ghaziabad-Meerut route, this station attracts a large number of passengers due to its proximity to Meerut Tiraha Mor and Shaheed Sthal New Bus Adda station of Delhi Metro. Being located inside the station, it will reduce the travel time of professionals and increase their productivity.
Metrodesk will have a dedicated digital platform for reservations, membership management and cashless transactions. The space will be equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) services, which will enable smart lighting, climate control and automatic booking of meeting rooms. Apart from this, video conferencing setup, wireless screen sharing and technologically advanced discussion areas will also be available.
Increased demand for co-working space
Co-working spaces are affordable and convenient compared to traditional offices. It can prove to be an excellent option for startups, small businesses and remote professionals. The demand for co-working space has increased rapidly after the Covid pandemic. According to a report, last year, demand for 2.24 lakh co-working seats was seen in major cities of the country, out of which 38,000 seats were in Delhi-NCR.
NCRTC is working to increase non-fare revenue along with the convenience of passengers. This initiative of co-working space at Ghaziabad Namo Bharat station is a big step towards transforming stations from transit hubs to business hubs. Currently, the NaMo Bharat train is operating from New Ashok Nagar (Delhi) to Meerut South on a 55 km stretch with 11 stations. The entire 82 km long Delhi-Meerut NaMo Bharat corridor, which includes the Meerut Metro, is rapidly progressing towards full operation by 2025.
