Amidst the political crisis in Punjab, the Chief Minister of the state Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday appeared before a three-member committee of the Congress. During this, he answered the allegations against himself. It is said that the Captain is ready for any kind of reshuffle in the government and the organization, but the two poles of power are not acceptable to him. After the meeting, the Captain said that there is an assembly election in the state in six months and this meeting was called for internal discussion in this regard. The committee will submit its report to Congress President Sonia Gandhi in 3-4 days.


Congress sources say that the agenda of the meeting was actually to bridge the differences between Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu. At the time when discussions were taking place with the Captain, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were also involved in the discussion through video conference. In the three-hour-long meeting, the Captain answered the allegations leveled against himself by the legislators and leaders to the members of the committee. The Chief Minister had brought with him documentary evidence, which was proof of getting the MLAs and Punjab Congress leaders done. Congress leader and a member of the committee Harish Rawat said that Sonia Gandhi is out for 2-3 days, so the full report of the meeting will be submitted to the party president after 3-4 days. Besides Rawat, the three-member committee also includes Mallikarjun Kharge and JP Agarwal.

Earlier on Monday, the committee had met 25 MLAs of Punjab in its first meeting. A member of the committee said Friday’s meeting was the last meeting of the party’s Punjab unit to resolve the dispute. The committee heard the favor of more than 100 leaders and MLAs of Punjab in five days.

meeting with the members of the committee on Tuesday, Navjot Singh Sidhu had said that he has firmly conveyed the truth of Punjab to the top leadership of the party. After the meeting, he had said in a conversation with the media personnel, “I have come on the call of the high command and have conveyed the matter of the people of Punjab to the leader.”

Supporters don’t mind calling the captain

By the fifth day, the danger of getting worse had increased with the kind of exercise the leadership had done regarding Punjab. In fact, the Captain camp linked the Chief Minister’s seniority and prestige to calling the Chief Minister to explain. However, the Captain decided to present his side by reaching before the committee. The Captain made it clear before the committee that he was being accused of supporting the Akalis even though he had been their constant target.
