Sometimes the viral load is high even if the person is asymptomatic and sometimes less, the patient is asymptomatic. Therefore, it should be left to the doctor.
If the Kovid patient is an Isolot at home, how will he know that he has to go to the hospital?
Dr. Sanjay Pandey says, ‘If there is persistent high fever, difficulty in breathing, reduced oxygen saturation (saturation), restlessness, nervousness, neurological disturbances (obstruction) in the patient such as memory impediment, very severe head ache, unconsciousness. In case of such symptoms, the patient needs to be admitted to the hospital.
Many hospitals in Delhi have been asked to increase the number of beds in ICUs and wards, what are the guidelines?
Dr. Sanjay Pandey says, ‘Guidelines are issued from time to time in this regard. Earlier in November, the situation had become equally severe, so at that time also about 80 percent of the beds were reserved for Kovid patients. Similarly this time also the government has issued guidelines under which many big hospitals have been declared as Total Kovid Hospitals and 80 percent beds in ICU have been reserved for Kovid patients. Not all beds can be made because many times even serious patients come without covid, beds are kept for them.
If someone needs oxygen, does the hospital provide it or do they have to make arrangements themselves?
Dr. Sanjay Pandey says, ‘If any person comes Kovid positive then the health officials are constantly in touch with the patient. They see if there can be isolates in the house, what is its condition and if the situation is normal now then there is no need to go to the hospital. But if the condition is serious or has comorbidity, is elderly, then the hospital will take care of it and admit it.
