Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that in the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, all the ministers agreed to pursue the lockdown but later the right to take a final decision on it was left to CM Uddhav Thackeray. Now they will take a decision on this, given the state of the state.
Vaccination stopped for 18+ people
State Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that shortage of corona vaccine is going on in the state. In such a situation, it has been decided to stop corona vaccination of people of 18-44 at present. Instead, emphasis will be given to those above 45 years of applying Corona Vaccine. Vaccination will also be started for those above 18 years of age when a new vaccine is introduced.
15 million doses will be met by SII
The Health Minister said that restrictions on local trains will continue till May 15. After this, a further decision will be taken in view of the situation. He said that Serum Institute (SII) CEO Adar Poonawala has promised the Chief Minister that he will give 1.5 crore doses of Kovishield to Maharashtra after May 20. When we get the Corona Vaccine, then we will start the vaccination of 18+ people.
Rajesh Tope said that if needed, the vaccine can be purchased from outside countries as well. After getting permission from the central government, a global tender will be withdrawn for the purchase of the vaccine. The Chief Minister will write a letter to the Prime Minister about this.
46,781 new cases in 24 hours
Let us tell that in the second wave of corona infection, Maharashtra remains in the first place in the country. In the last 24 hours, there were 46,781 new cases of Coronavirus. In the same period, 816 people died of corona in the state. With these figures, the total number of infected in Maharashtra has crossed 52 lakh 26 thousand 710 and the total number of dead has crossed 78 thousand.
So far, about 46 lakh people have been cured of the corona virus in the state. Corona’s recovery rate is currently running at 88 percent in the state.
