In the report released by Transparency International, Denmark has been described as the least corrupt country. This is the sixth consecutive year that Denmark has held the top position. According to the report, India is the 93rd most corrupt country. Last year in 2022, India was at 85th position.
Transparency International, the organization that releases the list of corrupt countries, has released the Global Corruption Index for the year 2023 on Tuesday. India has fallen by 8 places to 93rd position in the list of 180 countries. That means there is more corruption in 87 countries than in India. At the same time, there is more corruption in India than in 92 countries.
In the list of 180 countries, the score of more than two-thirds of the countries is below 50. That means there is widespread corruption in more than two-thirds of the countries. At the same time, the average corruption score is 43. According to the report, the least improvement has been recorded in corruption in the public sector.
The report said that the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2023 shows that most countries have made little or no improvement in tackling corruption in the public sector. This list is prepared on the basis of corruption in the public sector. A score of zero means the most corrupt and a score of 100 means the most honest.
Which are the least corrupt countries?

Whereas, Finland and New Zealand are at second and third place with scores of 87 and 85 respectively. This year the top 10 countries include Norway (84), Singapore (83), Sweden (82), Switzerland (82), Netherlands (79), Germany (78), and Luxembourg (78).

Somalia (11), Venezuela (13), Syria (13), South Sudan (13), and Yemen (16) are at the bottom in this list. All these countries have been affected by armed conflicts for a long time. Corruption is also at its peak in Nicaragua (17), North Korea (17), Haiti (17), Equatorial Guinea (17), Turkmenistan (18), and Libya (18).

India’s ranking
According to the report of Transparency International, India is at 93rd position this year. In CPI marking, India has been given number 39 out of 100. Last year in 2022, India was at 85th position. Whereas, 40 marks were given in CPI marking.
Neighboring country Pakistan is at 134th place in this list. Pakistan has got 29 points in CPI marking. Whereas, Sri Lanka has got 34 points. Afghanistan and Myanmar have got 20 points, China has got 42 points and Bangladesh has got 24 points. That is, according to the report, there is less corruption in China than India and more corruption in Pakistan than India.
