New Delhi: Famous Kathakali dancer Milena Salvini passed away on Tuesday. The Indian Embassy in France has given this information in a tweet. Let us tell you that Salvini, born in Italy, used to regularly visit India, especially Kerala. It was in Kerala that he learned Kathakali and ran a school for Indian dance forms ‘Centre Mandap’ in Paris. The Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri award in 2019 for his contribution in the field of acting.
Ms. Milena Salvini will be remembered for her passion towards Indian culture. She made numerous efforts to further popularise Kathakali across France. I am anguished by her passing away. My thoughts are with her family and well-wishers. May her soul rest in peace.
