Heavy rain will occur in these places
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert and said that heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore and Puducherry and extremely heavy rain at one or two places. The department has issued an orange alert, predicting rain at isolated places in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai and Nagapattinam districts and Karaikal region. Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Tiruchirapalli, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram districts. Meanwhile, there was no rain in Chennai city and suburbs after continuous rain but Mahabalipuram has been receiving rain since late evening. The sea condition was very rough and tides as high as 7 to 8 feet were observed forcing the fishermen to anchor their boats at safe places to avoid any losses.
