DA Hike: There is a relief news for government employees and pensioners. On the lines of the central government, now the Assam government has also announced a 2 percent increase in dearness allowance (DA). This decision will benefit lakhs of employees and pensioners.
Big announcement of Assam government
The Assam government has approved a 2 percent increase in dearness allowance, giving a big gift to the state employees and pensioners. Announcing this, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma termed it as a ‘Bihu gift’. He told that this increase will be effective from January 1, after which now DA and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners will increase to 55 percent.
State Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified that the increased DA will be given with the salary of the previous month, while the outstanding arrears from January to March will be paid with the salary of April and May.
DA will also increase in UP
The Uttar Pradesh government has also prepared to increase the dearness allowance by 2 percent for state employees. After this increase, DA in UP will increase from 53 percent to 55 percent. This proposal will soon be presented before the Chief Minister and after approval, it will be implemented with the salary of April which the employees will receive in May.
This move of the state government will benefit about 16 lakh government employees. Apart from this, 12 lakh pensioners will also be given the benefit of 2 percent increase in Dearness Relief (DR). The government has planned that the arrears of the previous months will be distributed through the Employees’ Provident Fund and National Savings Certificate.
