DA Hike: The Union Cabinet on Friday approved a 2% increase in dearness allowance (DA) for central government employees. This big decision has been taken by the government in the Union Cabinet meeting. With this increase, now the dearness allowance (DA) of central employees and pensioners and dearness relief (DR) of pensioners will increase from 53 percent to 55 percent. This increase has been made under the 7th Pay Commission.
The last increase was in July 2024, when dearness allowance was increased from 50 per cent to 53 per cent. Now an increase of 2 per cent has been made, after which another 2 per cent dearness allowance will be added to the basic salary of the employees. This increase will be considered effective from January 1, 2025. Crores of employees and pensioners will benefit from the increase in dearness allowance.
How much will the salary increase
If someone’s basic salary is Rs 50 thousand, then according to 53% DA, he would get a dearness allowance of ₹ 26,500, but according to DA of 55 percent, he will get DA of ₹ 27,500. That is, the salary of the employees will increase by Rs 1 thousand.
At the same time, on a basic salary of Rs 70 thousand, dearness allowance would be ₹ 37,100, but according to 55 percent DA, ₹ 38,500 will be given as dearness allowance. That is, the salary of such employees will increase by ₹ 1,400.
Similarly, those with a basic salary of ₹ 1,00,000 would get a dearness allowance of ₹ 53,000 as per 53 percent DA, but now they will get DA of 55 thousand rupees as per 55 percent. That is, the salary of the employees will increase by Rs 2 thousand monthly.
This is the first time in 78 months
In the last few years, dearness allowance was increased by 3 to 4 percent, but for the first time in 78 months i.e. 6.6 years, DA has been increased by only 2 percent. Earlier in the year 2018, dearness allowance was increased by 2 percent. Since then, a continuous increase of 3 or 4 percent has been seen.
Arrears of 2 months will be given
The government has announced an increase in dearness allowance in the month of March. In such a situation, the arrears of two months will also be added together and given with the salary of March. Along with January and February, the dearness allowance of March will also be added to the salary together and sent to the account of the employees. If the basic salary of any central employee is Rs 19000, then he used to get Rs 10,070 as dearness allowance. Now after the increase of 2 percent, this allowance has become Rs 10,450.
