According to the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, when the dearness allowance of central employees and pensioners is 50 percent, the child education allowance has increased to 25 percent. Apart from this, 5 other allowances have increased.

Central Employees Pensioners salary 2024: There is good news for more than one crore central employee pensioners of the country. After the 4% increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief from January to June 2024, 6 allowances of central employees have also been increased. This includes House Rent Allowance, Overtime, Children’s Education Allowance, Child Care Special Allowance, Risk Allowance, Night Duty and Special Allowance.

In this regard, the Department of Personnel and Training has issued an Official Memorandum (OM) on April 2, 2024. According to the OM, the Department of Personnel and Training has issued instructions on a range of allowances available to Central Government employees. Following its 2016 assessment and recommendations, the 7th Pay Commission examined all the benefits provided to central government employees, including railway employees, civil defense employees and defense personnel.

Child Education Allowance

According to the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, the child education allowance has increased to 25 percent when the allowance of a central employee is 50 percent. Child Education Allowance/Hostel Subsidy can be claimed only for two children.

The amount of hostel subsidy is Rs. 6750/- per month. If a Central employee has a disabled child, the Child Education Allowance is double the normal rate. For disabled children of a Government employee, CEA reimbursement will be payable at double the normal rate of CEA.

4500/- per month. In a case where the disabled child is not able to go to school, the reimbursement of CEA for receiving education/special education at the residence will be double the normal rates of CEA subject to presentation by the teacher/trainer etc. and the payment received by oneself.

The rate of CEA will be increased by 25% every time DA increases by 50% on the revised pay structure. CEA and hostel subsidy is admissible in respect of children studying before three classes as per class 1 to class 12.

Risk Allowance/Overtime Allowance

The rates of risk allowance have been revised based on the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission. Risk Allowance is currently paid to Central Government employees who are engaged in hazardous duties or whose work will have deleterious effects on health over a period of time. Risk Allowance will not be treated as “salary” for any purpose. Apart from this, you will also get the benefit of overtime allowance.

Night duty allowance

Night duty allowance has also been revised based on the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission. Let us tell you that night duty is defined as the duty done between 22:00 and 6:00. An equal weightage of 10 minutes is given for each hour of night duty.

The basic salary limit for NDA eligibility is Rs 43600/- per month. Hourly rate of NDA will be paid equal to [(BP+DA)/200] and the basic pay and DA for calculating NDA rates will be the prevailing basic pay and DA as per 7th CPC. The amount of NDA will be calculated separately for each employee. Will be decided, which will depend on the basic pay drawn by the concerned employee on the date of performing night duty.

Special allowance

As per the decision taken by the Government on the recommendations of the 7th CPC, the rates of special allowance payable to persons fully engaged in the work of Parliament during the Parliament session should be increased by 50% from the existing level. 1500/- and Rs. Payable to Assistants and UDCs up to the level of Rs 1200/- respectively. Allowances of Rs.2250/- and Rs.1800/- will be admissible at full rates for each calendar month in which Parliament is in session for at least 15 days in that month. The allowance for the month of shorter duration will be admissible at half the rates prescribed for the entire month. No OTA will be paid to Parliament Assistants for calendar months in which Parliament is in session.

Special Allowance for Child Care

Special allowance for child care will be given to disabled women. In order to provide additional benefits to disabled women employees, especially when they have small children and disabled children, it has been decided that disabled women will be paid Rs. 3000/- per month on special allowance for child care. The allowance will be payable from the time of birth of the child till the child turns two years of age. The above limit will be increased by 25% every time the dearness allowance increases by 50% on the revised pay structure.

Dearness allowance of central employees and pensioners increased to 50 percent

Recently, in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the announcement of Lok Sabha election dates, an increase of 4% in Dearness Allowance (DA) of employees and 4% of Dearness Relief of pensioners was approved, after which the total DA increased to 46. % has increased to 50%.

The new rates will be applicable from January 1, 2024, so arrears for January and February will also be available. With the increase in DA, the house rent allowance has increased from 27 percent to 30 percent. This will benefit about 49.18 lakh central government employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners. This will see an increase of up to Rs 10,000 in salary.
