7th Pay Commission: The Punjab government on Wednesday increased the dearness allowance for state government employees and pensioners by four per cent. According to an official statement, “Giving a Diwali gift to the families of more than 6.50 lakh employees and pensioners of the Punjab government, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday announced a four per cent increase in their dearness allowance.”

What is the detail

According to a statement issued quoting a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office, the Chief Minister has approved giving four percent dearness allowance (DA) to employees and pensioners from November 1. In this way, DA has increased from 38 percent to 42 percent. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that this decision will benefit more than 6.50 lakh employees, pensioners and their families. Describing the employees as an important part of the state administration, he said that protecting their interests and ensuring their welfare is the top priority of the government.

Let us tell you that earlier on Tuesday, the Uttarakhand government had announced to increase the dearness allowance of its employees from 50 percent to 53 percent. According to the official release, all regular, full-time and UGC-affiliated officers of the state government will get the increased allowance from July 1, 2024. The release said that the arrears of dearness allowance from July 1 to September 30 will be paid in cash, while the allowance will be added to the salary from October 1. At the same time, earlier on Monday, October 28, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said today that the state government has decided to increase the dearness allowance (DA) of government officials and employees by 50 percent, which will be due from January 1, 2024.
