DA Hike for Railway Employees: Railway Board has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees from 42 percent to 46 percent of the basic salary, which will be considered effective from July 1, 2023. The Board has written a letter to the General Managers and Chief Administrative Officers of ‘All India Railways and Production Units’ on October 23, 2023, stating that it is very happy to take the decision that the dearness allowance payable to the railway employees will be reduced to four basic The salary has been increased from the current 42 percent to 46 percent, which will be considered effective from July 1, 2023.
Bonus announced for railway employees
The Railway Board’s announcement comes five days after the Union Cabinet approved a bonus of about Rs 15,000 crore, which also includes a four percent increase in DA for government employees.
Employees will get the increased DA in the next month’s salary along with the outstanding amount from July. Railway employee unions have welcomed this announcement before Diwali.
DA was to meet from July
Shiv Gopal Mishra, general secretary of All India Railwaymen’s Federation, said, “Employees were to get DA from July, so it was the employees’ right to get it. I welcome the decision to announce its payment before Diwali.”
M Raghavaiah, general secretary of the National Federation of Indian Railwaymen, said that DA is paid on the basis of consumer price index and its objective is not to affect (employees) inflation.
