DA Hike: How much will the dearness allowance of central employees increase? Labor Bureau has not released the number

Central government employees news: The Labor Bureau has not released any numbers since January 2024. This has made it difficult to guess how much the dearness allowance (DA hike) will be in July 2024?

Central government employees news: Central employees have suffered a setback for the third consecutive month. Once again the numbers of All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI-IW) have not been released. The numbers to be released on 31 May have been put on hold. The Labor Bureau has not released any numbers since January 2024. This has made it difficult to guess how much will be the dearness allowance (DA hike) to increase in July 2024? Experts are also surprised by this decision of the Labor Bureau. This is happening for the first time in nearly two decades, when inflation figures have not been released for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW). If sources are to be believed, there is a delay in this due to the Labor Bureau not having the data for the months of February and March. Now we will have to wait for its numbers till the end of June.

What is the matter?

The Consumer Price Index (CPI-IW) for Industrial Workers has not released the data for February, March and April. According to sources, the delay in releasing the numbers is because the Labor Bureau does not have the data for February and March yet. It is being told that this information can be updated in the numbers to be released at the end of June. Even though the Labor Bureau does not have the data. But, this does not mean that the dearness allowance will not increase in July 2024. However, there may be a slight change in the calculation.

The Labor Bureau does not have the data for February

Let us tell you, the numbers of dearness allowance increasing in proportion to inflation for central employees are released on the last working day of every month. The figures for January 2024 were released on 28 February. Since then, the AICPI Index (CPI-IW) numbers for the months of February, March and April have not been released. These are the numbers on the basis of which it is decided how much the dearness allowance of central employees will increase. But, this time it is difficult to guess. In January 2024, the AICPI index was at 138.9 points, on the basis of which the score of dearness allowance has become 50.84 i.e. 51 percent. Now only after the further numbers come, it will be known how much the inflation for July 2024 will increase.

Dearness allowance will not be zero (0)

There was a discussion that from July 2024, the dearness allowance of central employees will become zero. But, there is no such rule. The government has also distanced itself from any such idea. The calculation of dearness allowance (DA Hike calculation) will continue to increase beyond 50 percent. According to sources, this discussion gained momentum because, when the base year was changed in the year 2016, the dearness allowance was zeroed and merged into the basic salary. But, this was done due to the change in the base year. But, no rule was made regarding this that it will be zeroed when it becomes 50 percent. At present there is no need to change the base year. In such a situation, there is no solid reason behind the merger of dearness allowance. The calculation will be beyond 50 percent. If experts are to be believed, the next dearness allowance can also increase by 4 percent.

When will the dearness allowance change now?

The next revision in DA Hike for Central government employees is to be done in July 2024. According to the current data, the score of DA has reached 50.84 percent. Experts say that the next update in dearness allowance (DA) can also be of 4 percent. According to the current trend, dearness allowance has reached 51 percent. The data of February, March, April, May and June is to decide how big the next jump will be. It is expected that there is a possibility of 3 percent more increase from the current situation. Meaning dearness allowance will increase from 51 to 54 percent.

There will be a huge jump in dearness allowance

Under the 7th Pay Commission, AICPI numbers from January to June 2024 will decide the dearness allowance for central employees. Dearness allowance has reached 50.84 percent. The numbers of 5 months are yet to come. It is expected that this time also there will be an increase of 4 percent. However, experts are denying that after 50 percent, dearness allowance will be merged with the basic salary.
