Defence Pensioners: Good news! Now pension will be credited to the account on time, TCS has extended the contract

Tata Consultancy Services: IT service provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has extended its contract for SPARSH (System for Pension Administration – Defence) for three years.

Tata Consultancy Services: If you are also retired from defense service, then this news is for you. In fact, to deliver pension on time to the accounts of defense pensioners, a special system was used with the help of IT service provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Now, even before its contract expires, the company has extended its contract for SPARSH (System for Pension Administration – Defense) for three years. This is a project started to expedite the payment of pension to more than 3 million defense pensioners of the Government of India.

Giving this information on November 26, the company said that according to the contract, the IT service is to update some important systems in addition to maintaining the hardware and software of the major program. TCS started pension processing on SPARSH in October 2020. The result of the digital transformation of SPARSH was that the time limit for pension processing was reduced from 12 to 18 months to just 14 days. Apart from this, for the first time, pension payment is now given in 5-7 days.

The company said, “IT has been a major achievement for TCS to implement the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme. OROP guarantees that defence personnel with the same rank and years of service will get the same pension irrespective of when they retire.”

The company said OROP was sent to 1.8 million eligible pensioners at a record speed of 15 days and this was all due to TCS’ ability to reduce the processing time from six to eight months to just two weeks. The SPARSH programme has saved the government about Rs 250 crore annually by simplifying the pension disbursement process and eliminating bank service charges.

Sparsh also benefits the government

Sparsh system is a large scale effort. Through this, millions of records from 1914 till date have been digitized and more than 30 lakh defense pensioners of all three branches of the armed forces have been included. TCS has associated with 50 institutions and 2302 offices. At the same time, a total amount of more than Rs 282067 crore has been sent to the pensioners. This has benefited the pensioners as well as the government.

Apart from the ongoing Rs 15000 crore deal with BSNL, TCS is working with the top stock exchanges of India. At the same time, it is also working to strengthen RTGS and NEFT. Along with this, it is bringing changes in the process of issuing passports. At the same time, it is also focusing on many other works of the central and state government.
