Work on the fourth phase of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, which connects Dehradun to Rajaji National Park, is nearing completion. This has been claimed in media reports. If everything goes as per plan, the work will be completed by June and the 12 km long elevated portion of the road will be operational by July.
This expressway will be the longest wildlife corridor in Asia. For which a 12 kilometer long elevated flyover is currently being built.
According to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the project will be completed by June 30. This expressway will connect Delhi to Dehradun via Saharanpur, Baghpat, Baraut and Shamli. The number of lanes in Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is six, which can be increased to eight.
Delhi-Dehradun Expressway travel time
With the construction of this expressway, travel time will reduce from 6.5 hours to 2.5 hours and distance will reduce from 235 kilometers to 213 kilometers.
Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Cost
However, a portion of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is expected to become operational in July this year. But the construction of the entire highway is scheduled to be completed in May 2025. Media reports say that around Rs 13,000 crore is likely to be spent on this project.
So many passengers will travel daily
After the opening of the expressway, officials expect the number of vehicles using the route to increase to 20,000 to 30,000 daily.
