Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana: Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday launched the Delhi government’s Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana along with registering the priest of Marghat Wale Baba temple located near Kashmiri Gate ISBT here. Under the scheme announced ahead of the assembly elections in February, Kejriwal said that if the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) returns to power in Delhi, all Hindu temple priests and granthis of gurudwaras will be given a monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000.

Launch of Pujari-Granthi Samman Yojana

In a post on ‘X’, he said, “Today I went to Marghat Baba’s Mandir (ISB) and started the Pujari-Granthi Samman Yojana. Today is Mahant ji’s birthday here. I also celebrated his birthday with him.”

The former Delhi Chief Minister alleged that the BJP tried its best to stop the registration process for the scheme, but no one can stop a devotee from meeting God.

When will the Pujari-Granthi Samman Yojana start?

Arvind Kejriwal has said in his announcement that we will not call it salary, we will call it their respect and under this, about 18000 rupees will be given to priests and granthis every month. This scheme will be implemented as soon as our government comes after the elections.

Launching the “Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana”, Arvind Kejriwal said that BJP has tried to stop every announcement made by me. If they try to stop this too, they will commit a great sin.

A group of priests protested

Amidst the intensification of politics over honorarium in Delhi, a group of priests protested against Kejriwal outside the Connaught Place temple for announcing honorarium after a delay of 10 years. During the darshan at the Marghat Wale Baba temple, the AAP chief was accompanied by his wife Sunita Kejriwal.

Why did he announce the scheme

Announcing this scheme, Arvind Kejriwal said that this scheme is for those people who have the biggest contribution to the society, but till date the society has not paid attention to them. No party or government paid any attention to them. He said that whether it is a happy occasion or a sad one, whether it is a wedding in the house, a child’s birthday or someone’s death, the priest always stands with us.

He said that the priest has carried forward our traditions from generation to generation. But he never paid attention to his family and we people also did not pay attention to them. He said that we go to temples to worship, but we never paid attention to them.
