Delhi Metro Republic Day Plan: Delhi Metro has issued an advisory asking people to allow extra time before leaving home. Otherwise, they may get delayed in reaching their office due to security checking at metro stations. This will happen due to security check in view of Republic Day.
New Delhi. If you travel by Delhi Metro daily, then for the next few days you may be forced to travel by train only after standing in long queues. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has already issued an advisory and warned people in this regard. Actually, in view of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations (Republic Day 2024) on 26 January, the security arrangements of the metro are being increased, which may cause some trouble for the people.
CISF is responsible for the security of Delhi Metro. DMRC Principal Executive Director Anuj Dayal said, ‘In view of the increased security arrangements ahead of Republic Day on 26 January, the security checking of passengers will be further intensified by CISF at metro stations from tomorrow i.e. Friday 19 January to 27 January 2024. “This may result in long queues at some metro stations during this period, especially during peak hours.”
DMRC said, ‘In view of the disruption in the coming days, passengers are advised to plan their journey accordingly and allow some extra time for their commute during these days. Passengers are requested to cooperate with the security personnel during the security check.
Detailed metro plan for Republic Day will come soon
Every year before Republic Day, CISF increases security checks at all metro stations. Due to which, security check of all the passengers is done not once but in two layers. In such a situation, the waiting time for the passengers present in the back line increases. In view of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, DMRC will soon go among the people with a detailed plan, under which entry and exit will be blocked at many metro stations on the day of Republic Day rehearsal and parade. However, movement of trains will continue inside the metro system.
