Delhi metro: Along with the interior of the train, the cab head mask has lost its color at many places, scratches and dents have also come. As part of the retrofit works, all these defects are being removed by repainting the walls and ceilings inside the passenger area, the cab area around the driver and the front of the trains.
Delhi Metro: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has given a new look to the metro by making changes in the old coaches. The country’s first refurbished metro has been launched on the Blue Line. The old metro will be revamped and run on different routes. It has taken 2 months to upgrade these coaches. A large number of metros will be revamped by September next year. Screens, sensors, charging points and CCTV have been installed in the new coach.
70 metro has been given a new look
In its initial experiment, the Delhi Metro has succeeded in the mid-life refurbishment work of the first train. It is part of a special drive undertaken by DMRC for renewal of 70 Metro trains, which were purchased by DMRC in their first phase between 2002 and 2007 and which have completed 14 to 19 years of their total life span of 30 years. As part of this mid-life refurbishment, trains are being transformed with several new features to bring them at par with Metro trains.
Floor refurbishment
The floor started showing signs of defects like cracks, bulges and uneven surface at various places. For passenger safety, comfort as well as better aesthetics inside the coaches, the flooring has now been replaced with modern fiber composite boards.
Along with the interior of the train, the color of the cab head mask has come off at many places, scratches and dents have also come. As part of the retrofit works, all these defects are being removed by repainting the walls and ceilings inside the passenger area, the cab area around the driver and the front of the trains.
LCD based dynamic route map
Earlier only static sticker based route maps were available in the trains in the metro. Now 50% of the Static Route Maps will be converted into LCD based Dynamic Route Maps which will provide dynamic live information to the passengers everywhere in the train.
CCTV surveillance system
This facility has been given for the first time in these trains. The CCTV coverage will provide better surveillance and security to the passengers. Catenary camera has been provided to monitor the overhead high-tension lines. Platform cameras have also been installed on both sides of the trains in alternate coaches to enable the train operator to see the rear end of the platform.
Fire detection system
In order to increase the safety of the passengers, this facility has also been added to these trains for the first time. In case of any heat build-up or smoke generation, this system will sound an alarm to the train operator and drive the HVAC on emergency ventilation mode.
Mobile and Laptop Charging Socket
Under this conversion work, mobile and laptop charging sockets will be provided near two seats in each coach for the convenience of the passengers.
