Passengers will be able to travel seamlessly in Namo Bharat Train and Delhi Metro. NCRTC has tied up with DMRC for integrated QR ticketing. Passengers booking Namo Bharat Train tickets through the RRTS Connect app can also book Delhi Metro tickets. Similarly, passengers booking Delhi Metro tickets through the DMRC mobile app can also book Namo Bharat Train tickets.
New Delhi: National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate their ticketing systems. This will facilitate seamless travel for the residents of Delhi-NCR. This collaboration is in line with the ‘One India – One Ticket’ initiative. It will allow passengers to book QR code tickets for both NaMo Bharat and Delhi Metro services on a single platform. The MoU was signed in the presence of Shalabh Goyal, Managing Director, NCRTC and Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director, DMRC. Under this integration, passengers booking NaMo Bharat train tickets on RRTS Connect App can also purchase Delhi Metro tickets along with it. Similarly, NaMo Bharat train tickets can also be booked from DMRC mobile app for booking metro tickets. This collaboration will create Delhi Metro QR codes on RRTS Connect App and NaMo
Bharat QR codes on DMRC mobile app, thereby enhancing passenger experience.
Initiative in line with PM National Gati Shakti Master Plan
This initiative is in line with PM National Gati Shakti Master Plan, which envisages seamless integration between various modes of transport. RRTS stations are being strategically integrated with existing railway stations, metro stations and bus depots, thereby creating a comprehensive network of transport. This tie-up will eliminate the need to switch between different ticketing apps while transitioning between NCRTC and DMRC networks. This initiative promotes rail-based green transport for travel in Delhi-NCR.
Seamlessly connected with DMRC network
The currently operational 42 km RRTS corridor is seamlessly connected with the 393 km DMRC network, providing passengers with an integrated and efficient ticketing and travel experience across NCR. This integration encourages the use of public transport, which is critical to increase ridership and ensure long-term sustainability of these big-ticket projects.
This initiative follows a similar agreement between NCRTC and IRCTC recently for booking NaMo Bharat Train tickets on IRCTC platform. With a design speed of 180 km/h and operational speed of up to 160 km/h, NaMo Bharat Train reduces travel time in the region by one-third. NaMo Bharat Train services are targeted to be operational by June 2025 on the 82 km long RRTS corridor of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut, enabling people to travel between Delhi and Meerut in less than an hour.
When will the first train arrive
Under the contract, the first batch of 12 Vande Bharat trains is to arrive within a year of the prototype. If the prototype arrives in September 2025, the first batch should arrive by September 2026. After this, a batch of 18 trains will be made in the second year and then 25 trains will be launched every year. Maintenance facilities for these trains will be developed in Jodhpur, Delhi and Bangalore.
Who will build how many trains
It is clearly written in the new tender that this project will be completed by 4 companies Kinet Railway Solutions, JV-India Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, Russian engineering company Metrovagonmash and Locomotive Electronic Systems. The first two companies will complete the construction of 25 percent trains, the second 70 percent and the third 5 percent trains.
