Delhi pollution: The air in Delhi has become poisonous. AQI has been recorded above 450. In view of increasing pollution, Delhi government has banned 14 works. Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai gave this information in a press conference on Friday. He said that ‘new bans are being imposed while keeping the restrictions that are already in place in force. A meeting has been held with the concerned officials to implement all these rules on the ground. We were receiving complaints that instructions are being issued but they are not being implemented on the ground.
What has been banned?
• Prohibition of earthwork for digging and filling including boring-drilling works.
• Prohibition of all construction work including construction and building operations.
• Ban on works related to demolition
• Prohibition of loading or unloading of construction material anywhere inside or outside the project site.
• Ban on moving raw materials from one place to another
• Ban on movement of vehicles on unpaved roads
• Ban on operation of patching plant
• Prohibition on laying of sewer line, water line, drainage work and electric cable through open trench system.
• Prohibition on cutting and fixing tiles, stones and other flooring materials.
• Ban on piling works
• Ban on water proofing works
• Ban on painting and polishing works
• Prohibition on road construction and repair work including paving of footpaths and pathways.
While banning 14 works in Delhi, Gopal Rai said, ‘These 14 works which have been banned… Suppose someone has built half the road and it is being stopped, then the responsibility of controlling the dust there lies with him. It will belong to the agency which is building the road. The work of the agency will not end by stopping the work.

What is the order regarding schools?
Delhi’s Environment Minister said, ‘Instructions have been issued to close schools in Delhi today and tomorrow. After that the next day is Sunday. Keeping in view the pollution situation on Monday, a decision regarding schools will be taken.
