New Delhi. Every line of the metro is identified by a particular colour. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to change the color code of the Tughlaqabad-Aerocity Corridor under construction in Phase Four.
Now the name of this corridor will not be Silver Line but Golden Line. The work of this corridor has been 40 percent completed. It will be ready in the next two years. DMRC says that the golden color will be visible better on the train. Therefore, it has been decided to change the color code of Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor.
12 metro corridors in NCR
At present there are 12 metro corridors in NCR. These are identified as 11 different colored lines of the corridor. Corridor 3 (Dwarka Sector-21-Electronic City Noida) and Corridor 4 (Yamuna Bank-Vaishali) of Delhi Metro are known as Blue Line.
23.62 long corridor
DMRC had earlier named the 23.62 km long Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor under construction in Phase IV as Silver Line. There is a stripe of the corresponding color on the metro trains of all the corridors. Blue Line metro trains have a blue strip under the glass.
Painting the lines on the metro
Even inside the train, there are lines in front of the names of interchange stations in the color of the respective metro line. DMRC says that the body of the metro train coach made of stainless steel is silver in colour. In such a situation, the silver colored stripes on the metro trains of Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor will not be clearly visible to the passengers.
Due to this, passengers may face problems. Golden color will be visible better than silver color. Therefore, golden color will be the identity of this corridor.
The corridor will be completed after two years
DMRC Principal Executive Director Anuj Dayal (Public Relations) said that this corridor will be ready in March 2026. There will be 15 stations on this Golden Line. This line will connect with the Violet Line (Kashmiri Gate-Ballabhgarh) of Delhi Metro at Tughlakabad and the Airport Express Line at Aerocity Metro station. There is also a proposal to extend it up to Airport Terminal 1. If this happens, the Golden Line Airport Terminal will also connect with the Magenta Line at a metro station.
